Voice over ip internet phone

Just find out I Can’t goto VOIP.COM site any more .And I get dial tone but don’t get any incoming & outgoig any more.

Try to call their service number 1-800-879-9647 ,but that number was don’t have service any more.
Any one know what going on for them ? Are they out of business ?

I am trying to choose a better business calling plan because ATT is to expensive. Is Vonage ok? I would need a plan with two lines and a fax line. I dont make a lot of long distance calls. I would need to have it advertised.

How does the call get from the public Internet onto the telephone network? Does Skype (and the other VOIP operators) own equipment in each country to provide the interface? Where is it situated, in each telephone exchange, or centrally?

I really wanted to use magicJack because it seems easy enough and I’ve heard so much about it, but it’s been over 1 to 2 years since they promised to offer the ability to keep your phone number…and they still haven’t.

Anyone have any recommendations for a voip that is easy to install, has great call quality, no problems with emergency calls (911 can locate you immediately), etc.?

Is it necessary to understand what is VoIP before attempting an Internet phone call?

I want to use vonage voip, so do I still need to keep basic att phone service to keep the dsl line? att is a rip-off !

Thanks for your reply. But using Skype we need to pay money for landline calls. I am looking for phone-to-phone free calling service using VoIP. Is Ipvani is ok for this. If go with Vonage monthly charges are there. Please let me know on this, Once again thanks for your resply

I have relatives in Ukraine ad calling is expensive. In many countries you can get a local phone number through a VOIP service provider and call international just like calling locally. I would love to get a number for Sevastopol, but almost any city VOIP number is likely to be less expensive than calling direct.

I need an additional handset for my voip phone. I am thinking about splitting the connection coming out of the voip device and attaching two phones. Does anyone know if that will work?
