I abandoned a vendor because their stupid VoIP connection kept dropping my calls. Took about four times before I looked elsewhere and started using someone three times the distance away, but answers the phone reliably.

Couple of quick points. You’ll get more responses when you use punctuation since it makes your question easier to understand.

About the question. It sounds like the question is about how voice over IP can impact a business. Also sounds like the intent of the question is to get you to describe the impacts in terms of business operations and in terms of technical approaches. One way to figure this out is to (1) make a list of how VoIP is different than classic voice services, and (2) think through how that matters.

An example of a business impact could be that calls on a company’s voice system can get forwarded to employee cell phones, enabling some opportunities to have employees telecommute seamlessly. An example of a technical impact could be that with VoIP, voice packets travel over company networks formerly used only by data, increasing the need for reliable network performance and business continuity planning for the network.

Cost is the number one factor.

VoIP lowers the overhead cost for companies especially those that needs overseas communication a lot.
