What do you think about the idea of putting up a business center for international calling using voip?
o_y_n_i_n asked:
Lets say that a lot of people working nearby the location came from overseas. Considering that the major market would have less knowledge about computers and internet. My only worry ,which I have not researched yet is that; … it would appear that i would be grabbing a fraction of the market from the phone company which would be the internet service provider itself… The business would be located in a tourist spot island.

Yes most of the phone cards that you can buy in the stores, are owned by the big telephone companies and they use voip to connect them up to oversees calling, if you have a big market for long distance why don’t you e-mail me I cant post anything here but I have a business opportunity for you.
This service will be readily available for everyone soon so, your center won’t last long. The phone companies are now using VoIP to transfer all long distance calls. It’s also cheaper for them.
The use of VoIP doesn’t bother phone companies. Most of them sell the service. It creates more demand for their DSL services and adds to your monthly bill. A good VoIP service only uses 22K as opposed to the 56K used by standard telephone lines. So it doesn’t slow the DSL line down much.
If you are going to create a center where a hundred people might be making VoIP calls at the same time, you’re going to need a T1 or faster service and some special routing or PBX equipment. The phone company will be happy to sell it to you.
