You have to have the right software loaded and running, as must the person you are conversing with. Because Voice Over Internet Protocol does use your personal computer, you wouldn’t be ready to communicate this way in a power cut. For most, the advantages of communicating through Voice Over Internet Protocol far outweigh the disadvantages.
