VoIP Phone Service vs. Land Line Phone Service
VoIP phone service, also known as voice over internet protocol telephone service, works by hooking your phone to the internet. Your telephone calls are then sent over the internet as small bits of information, called packets, instead of them being sent over a regular phone wire. Land line phone service is where a dedicated line is hooked to your house by a phone carrier. While cable companies do install telephone service into homes and offices, they provide what they call “Digital Phone Service”. Digital phone service is another name for digital phone service. Land line phone service has the following pros and cons:

• Land line phone service is technically more stable than digital phone service.
• Your old fashioned phone number gets put in the phone book, while your digital phone service phone number doesn’t.
• Old fashioned phone signals, overall, are more clear.

• You don’t have to have high speed internet service to have landline phone service.
Land-line Phone Service Cons:
• Landline calling plans are taxed by the local city, county, state and Federal governments.
• Only works in your home or office.
• Local and long distance phone service, plus an extra line for dial up internet service, cost more than high speed internet service and an unlimited VoIP calling plan.
While trying to play fair with the pros and cons of land line phone service and digital phone service, it is getting so that the only reason to still have a landline telephone plan is because you either can’t get fast internet service, or you really, really like to make sure the sound of your call is good. But, with most people now using either landline phone service, or cell phones, scratching for that last 2% of call clarity isn’t worth it any more.
